Business Trust is a partnership between over 100 companies in South Africa and the South African government to face the challenges of sustainable development in South Africa.

The partnership draws on the innovation and resources of business and the social priorities of the government. Objectives include:

Create Jobs and build capacity;

Reduce crime and malaria;

Build relationships & enhance trust between business and the South African government.

A trust was established to mobilise business resources and deploy them in areas of national need. Measurable targets include:

Support 100,000 job opportunities in the tourism sector; Improve reading by 2 years & writing by 4 years for 1m primary school pupils.

Improve math and language results by 10% for 450,000 secondary pupils and create world class technical colleges for 400,000 technical college students.

Reduce malaria infection to 2/100 in S Mozambique, N Kwazulu Natal and Swaziland.

Manage integration of the justice system.

Build productive relationships between business and government.

Develop a partnership model for businesses working in cooperation with one another and in partnership with government to promote sustainable development that balances economic growth, social development, political transformation and environmental protection.
