| 2,000 HSBC staff will volunteer on Earthwatch conservation projects. On returning from the field, the HSBC volunteers will lead a conservation project in their local community. | | 200 scientists and conservationists from developing countries will be trained on Earthwatch research projects. | | HSBC will invest US$16 million in the Earthwatch partnership. | | The partnership will create a network of conservation champions among HSBC staff and will deliver the equivalent of a century of environmental research. Also, increasing scientific knowledge in developing countries will give local communities the skills to protect their environment. | | HSBC's environmental policy is based on the United Nations Environment Programme's Statement by Financial Institutions on Environment and Sustainable Development, of which HSBC is a founding signatory. | |
