Establish proper policy framework for developing the West African market of LP Gas (propane, butane), a clean and multi-purpose fuel for households in urban and rural areas.

Raise the awareness of LP Gas' role in meeting the goals of sustainable development, as modern energy protecting the environment, bringing comfort of life and supporting productive use in urban and rural areas.

Initiate field projects with local government, private operators, investors and other stakeholders at national and/or community level.

Contibute to the World Bank's and other institutions' priority to reduce energy poverty and bring modern energy to the 2 billion people in the world who do not have access to commercial energy today.

Joint study of World Bank and World LP Gas Association on West Africa LPG Market Development, published in 2001.

pre-feasibility study and multi-stakeholder field project in Nigeria being considered for funding by multilateral institution, to be launched in 2002.

follow-up field projects with UNDP for rural energisation in African countries.

capacity building for LP gas market development and in a wider context, for development of modern energy services in Africa in the framework of sustainable development.

private sector investments in LP gas distribution infrastructure and local public-private partnerships for modern energy delivery in selected countries of sub-saharan Africa.
