The partnership will conduct capacity building activities at the national level by reaching out to small and medium size industries in order to educate, inform and transfer information on the benefits of adopting CSR principles.

This partnership addresses specific issues in Chapter 7 of Agenda 21 related to capacity building and the role of business and industry in achieving sustainable development through moral, ethical business practices.

Measurable results and specific targets:

Promote the voluntary adoption of CSR principles by a significant number of small, medium and large size industries and businesses in the project countries.

Educate and inform industries and businesses on how to commit to balancing industrial development with economic, environmental, and social development.

WEC will act as a catalyst to encourage small, medium and large size industries in the developing countries to make voluntary commitments to adopting the principles of CSR. These projects will allow small, medium and large size industries in the developing world to compete successfully and responsibly in the global economy.

Implementation mechanisms and further application:

The activities will be undertaken in three phases:

Phase 1: Identify partners and funding sources.

Phase 2: Conduct outreach and capacity building project.

Phase 3: Follow up and report results to donors and partners.

The partnership will provide capacity building and training to the industries and businesses in developing countries using the ICSR tools and protocols already developed by the WEC
