Aims/Objectives: |
|
| The Sustainable Living Centre and Renewable Energy Demonstration Centre provide an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy of the World Summit in the City of Johannesburg that will promote conservation and be of benefit to its citizens for many years to come. | | The Johannesburg Zoo company and the Endangered Wildlife Trust will initiate this project that aims to promote sustainable living and renewable energy, educating children and adults alike about their roles as custodians of the planet and its biodiversity. | | The Johannesburg Zoo is 98 years old, and is one of Johannesburg's most valuable assets, offering a clean, green environment in which attracts city residents and visitors from all over South Africa and the world. The Zoo draws schoolchildren from the whole of Gauteng province, and has a capacity to accommodate a million visitors a year. The venue is an ideal one in which to build a sustainable living education centre, where children could be exposed to an unforgettable experience that would explore and reveal their role as custodians of the planet and its biodiversity. | |
